Explorar Koh Samui ★★★★★

We decided to upgrade to a room with a plunge pool and it was great. We chose this hotel as the location is quiet and we can go to busy places whenever. We enjoyed all the facilities, staff are nice and helpful and great breakfast choices. They have complimentary activities such as cooking, yoga etc. Easy to get a cab or hire a private car. We went to Angthong island tour and the speedboat even dropped us off by the hotel beach. Great after a day full of adventure. My husband and I enjoyed our stay.

The resort delivered all that is set out in their details. Customer service is excellent. My husband was admitted to hospital whilst we were there and the staff were so caring and supportive. I had complimentary transport for visiting him and the staff welcomed him back individually and ensured our comfort and ease. Big thanks to Jan and Sophie, front of house. Alice, Kate and Film in reception who managed to extend our stay more than once and also dear Moo who drove me back and forth. On day of departure we were able to use the hotel facilities and then use a beautiful clean and well appointed room with shower to get ready for our onward journey.

Perfect breakfast and swimming pool

Great adults only resort. Very clean and modern. Staff very friendly and helpful. The free shuttle to Fisherman's Village and Chaweng were great given taxis on Koh Samui are quite expensive. Breakfast buffet was excellent with good range of Thai and western dishes. Food options at the resort were also good but of course not cheap - much cheaper options just a couple of mins walk from the hotel. Pool was beautiful. Spa was also good but expensive.

There were limited sun lounges/chairs by the pool - usually had to be there by 0830am to get one. People would often get one in the morning and stay on them all day. They have lots of bean bag type things to lie on and recline on though so we used those when chairs weren't available. Laundry was very expensive so we chose to do it outside - just 2 mins walk there are 2 places that do laundry at 70-80 baht per kilo

A little overcrowded sometimes by the pool

Our stay at Explorar was exceptional. The staff were so attentive, friendly and helped in any way they could, the food was incredible - the best hotel breakfast we've ever had and lots of options for different dietary requirements for the in-room and restaurant dining. The pool was incredible and the view of the ocean is breathtaking. Although there isn't a beach, you can still swim in the ocean directly from the hotel steps and walk further along the coast to other beaches close by. It was so great having 24-hour service, using the hotel app to communicate with staff/order and receiving bottles of water whenever we needed. The room was clean and comfy. I would definitely come back again.

That we had to leave! The food/drinks were also expensive and everything you order to eat/drink at the hotel has an extra 17% charge on top and it really adds up in the end. It's easy to spend a few hundred here without knowing over just a few days. It was a shame the TVs were so old and didn't have any capabilities to screen mirror/use streaming services.

This is my favorite hotel in Samui if you are traveling solo or as a couple. Great rooms and amenities, fabulous service team that really cares about providing the best experience. Crazy good breakfast. Pool is great, just by the sea. Do rent a moped to move around the island. Thank you Jan and whole team for making me extended my stay so many times . Can’t wait to be back.

The hotel itself was stunning. Great views from pool, bar, and restaurant. Quite luxurious. Our room was a deluxe room with a plunge pool. The room was immaculate, the bed huge and very comfy. There was a fridge with a selection of soft drinks and beers. The restaurant serves a huge selection of local and international foods. The paths around the hotel were colourful and well maintained. The spa onsite is fabulous. Great to have no kids running about.

The plunge pool had hard plastic chairs rather than the blue cushions shown in the pictures. Our plunge pool and decking area got no sun at all, which was disappointing. The fridge could do with more of a selection. Ie. Gin and tonic rather than just beer. The service in the restaurant can be a bit slow. Lots of staff, but they don't give individual attention to your table. Ie. Lack of attention to needs. Ie. Drinks refilling, clearing of plates. (Too many cooks springs to mind) As we were leaving for the airport in our hotel car, someone literally ran after us to ask if we had eaten a packet of nuts, which we had not declared. (We had previously given them a note of the 1 x beer we had drunk the previous night when checking out.) We had bought our own of packet of nuts at the 7Eleven when we were at the market. So this was a bit of an overkill and a bit embarrassing and really quite unnecessary.

Nice pool. Nice room/bed/sheets/bathroom/towels, etc. Nice employees who were very willing to help the guests.

Nothing to see or do outside the hotel within walking distance. The road to the main island road is mostly dirt. The actual beach at the hotel is <12 ft deep. The breakfasts were just okay with little flavor. Even the fruit was not fully ripe and was bland which is difficult to find in Thailand.

Quiet and comfortable room with sea view. Personal is super friendly. Breakfast and Dinner (Thai buffet) were really good.

The resort is not closely located to Restaurants and bars. They have a shuttle going to fisherman’s village (really nice) and chaweng (not our favorite), though. The facilities and modern style design cannot match competitors as Santhiya and Anantara.

Beautiful rooms. The staff is very well trained particularly the reception. Very efficient, very helpful! Rooms are clean and big enough. Water in the swimming pool has no smell of a chlorine:)) Breakfast is good, great egg station, even smoked salmon served. No one had a food poisoning!!!

This hotel has no atmosphere at all!!! The major reason I think - the price of the drinks( alcoholic and non alcoholic). I asked in the bar for the carrot juice( was advertised) . Barman took 1 !!!! 1 carrot put it in the food processor, just blended it added water, here you are fresh juice-£5- a bit pricey for a carrot!!!Because everything so expensive no one sitting by the bar, people are not chatting to each other , you are not making anybody new friends . The hotel is far from the “life” but charging for the shuttle bus £7.( day light robbery)! You can make a new friendship in the queue in the nearest supermarket because everybody going there to get some booze and drink it in rooms. Very often you can not find a sun-bed no by the swimming pool nether by the sea. Often they are running out of the beach towels. Important!! Also in the restaurant there are no antibacterial hand sanitiser at all. Thailand is the second country with corona virus. There are lots of Asian guests and from China as well I would feel more safe if everybody before enter the restaurant could use it. Also to change tongs and spoons every 30 min would help as well to feel more safe. To have a good swim in the sea you should take a shuttle bus :((( Would I come again - no!!! Would I recommend this place to my friends- only if they are 75+ years old. Live music evens - quite something. The singer is lovely and she has a very nice voice, but the music choice - is deep depression, very boring and suicidal.

The hotel is fantastic! We would definitely come back. Facility: We had a room at the 4th floor with a little balcony from which we could watch the sun down - amazing! The room itself was quite luxury, large and very clean as was the property in general. The infinitiy pool close to the sea is amazing and so are the many sun beds close to it and the sea. What we really liked was that there was no hussle for sun beds and no "reserving" of beds as this is often an issue. The hotel has one restaurant, a pool bar, and a lounge/bar in the evening where you can also play billiard, a gym, a rooftop for yoga, and a spa. Food: We had previously read that food was supposedly very expensive. Food is definitively more expensive than if you go outside (e.g., pad thai for around 200 thai bhat which is around 6 Euro; burger or club sandwich around 7 Euros) but not expensive in general. And what is more: It is definitly worth the money! Cocktails at the pool bar are around 280-320 bhat (8-10 euros), but the hotel offers 2:1 happy Hours throughout most of the afternoon and early evening so really, you pay 8-10 euros for two cocktails. In difference to many bars in the city, the cocktails are really good, with a large variety of drinks and amazingly nice staff! Staff: We thought the staff was amazing! Everyone was really attentive, friendly and polite. There was always someone around who could help you out with anything. Location: The hotel is located a little outside and so there is less going on if you leave the hotel property but we very much liked it as this meant less tourists and crowds at the beach. However, many other restaurants are easily reachable by walking. This hotel is probably not the place to be if you want to go crazy and party every night, but great if you want to enjoy the sun, swim, eat great food and chill!

The incredible and super nice staff, all of them always a smile everyday. Congratulations ! Location of the resort, close by for everything of interest. Nice beach and restaurant. Renting a moto inside the hotel. Bed super comfortable and room very spacious.

Breakfast should be improved. Some small details make all the difference.

Great location, super friendly staff, amazing view, wide selection of breakfast, everything is great! I’ll choose to stay there again when I go back to Ko Samui!

Transportation from the airport is pricy.

Service at the restaurant during dinner could be improved also because english level wasnt too great. The food though was very good.

Amazing swimming pool - very long so you can have a great long swim everyday, various activities available with no additional charge (yoga, pilates, kayaking etc.), quiet room with pool. I was really happy that it was adults only hotel.

No freshly squized juice for breakfast, beach area is very narrow, very expensive taxi service, overpriced hotel restaurant.

The breakfast buffet is great but the dinner we had in the restaurant was average and limited Thai menu so you for dinner you really need to get out of the resort which isn’t a bad thing. Fisherman’s Village is close and really nice.
